What is the purpose of this meeting?

We’re excited to continue working together to shape the future of our community. In the first meeting, held in June 2024, you shared your hopes, concerns, and ideas, and that valuable input has guided our planning process. At this second meeting, we’ll be presenting the progress we’ve made based on your feedback, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts as we continue to refine our shared vision.

What are the planned uses for the site?

At present the planned uses entail a variety of housing types serving a variety of income levels, a new fire station, a new public health clinic, and structured parking. Learn more here.

Who is leading the planning efforts?

Madison’s Community Development Authority has selected a strong team of local businesses who are deeply familiar with the south side to lead this planning and redevelopment process, including Captains Inc., New Year Investments, The Alexander Company, and Potter Lawson. This dynamic collaboration is bolstered by a significant representation of minority- and women-owned business enterprises, accounting for 75% of the planning team. Learn more about the team here.

How did we get here?

Madison’s Community Development Authority seeks to redevelop the majority of the block at S. Park Street and W. Badger Road. This area is approximately four acres of city-owned property. In a public, competitive proposal process, the City has selected a local team of professionals to engage the community, create a shared master plan, and embark on this redevelopment. The ultimate goal is to redevelop this block with a community focus while maintaining affordability. With that philosophy in mind, the planning team is holding the second of three community meetings.
