On April 15, 2025, the project team hosted its third round of community meetings – first in person at Madison College’s Goodman South Campus and later via Zoom. These sessions focused on sharing updated designs for the Park Badger Redevelopment, including building exteriors, interior layouts, amenity spaces, and the publicly accessible greenway between the buildings.

Community members asked thoughtful questions and shared a range of perspectives on the current plans. Feedback covered topics including housing affordability, building height, parking access, connectivity, and design integration with the surrounding neighborhood.

Key themes of the feedback included:

  • Requests for a breakdown of units by income bracket and questions about pricing for senior housing.
  • Concerns about the proposed building height and its visual impact, with some residents expressing support for balconies and other design features.
  • Input on parking capacity and circulation, especially during construction and community events.
  • Suggestions to ensure strong connections with nearby institutions like Centro Hispano and the Urban League.
  • A desire for the development to reflect the character and identity of South Madison – including in how the public greenspace is programmed and designed.
  • Questions about materials and landscaping choices, including a discussion on the use of artificial turf vs. natural grass.
  • Comments regarding school district coordination, BRT integration, and views from surrounding buildings.

We’re grateful for the continued engagement and insight from the community. This feedback directly informs how we approach final design decisions and ensure the project reflects community values.

I wasn’t able to attend – how can I see the presentation?

Those who were unable to attend the public meetings can view a recording of the virtual meeting here. A copy of the slides shown at both meetings can also be found here.

What are the next steps?

  • The entitlement process is anticipated to begin in the coming month or so.
  • Additional materials, including unit mix by income and a survey to guide public art exploration, will be posted to this site soon.
  • The project team continues to evaluate options and design elements.
  • Community input will be shared with the City of Madison and incorporated into future planning phases.

We welcome ongoing participation and appreciate everyone who has taken time to attend meetings, ask questions, and share ideas.
